Thursday
June 18, 5:00 - 6:30 pm: Local artist, Terry Grady will be
present for a meet the artist event. His unique pointillism artwork is
on display during June in the bookstore. Terry found himself on a bench
in Europe for three days waiting for a friend to arrive. This was the
start of his series of abstract pieces that have spanned three decades.
Most of his colored ink sketches incorporate unusual themes and figures.
Originally from Michigan, he now lives with his family in Portland. Light
refreshments will be served
Saturday June
20 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm: Local
author, Elisabeth Petry will have a book signing of her new book, "At
Home Inside: A Daughter's Tribute to Ann Petry". This is a
remembrance of her mother, a reticent writer who attained substantial
literary success while raising a family. Elisabeth Petry is a freelance
writer with a juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives
in Middletown, and is the editor of Can Anything Beat White? A Black
Family's Letters (University Press of Mississippi). Light refreshments
will be served.
